Where to sit the exam

The Hague region is served by the CBR Rijswijk location on the southern edge of the city — the closest theory-exam centre for most Den Haag residents. Reserve through MijnCBR with DigiD; the booking screen shows the exact address and available slots, so confirm it there.

Take it in English

The CBR motor theory exam is conducted only in Dutch. To take it in English you need a CBR-listed interpreter (the I-T product). See our full guide on how to book an English interpreter for the CBR motor exam. Total cost with interpreter: ~€356.50 — or train in English first and skip it.

Den Haag-specific hazards the CBR tests

  • Trams everywhere (HTM) — The Hague has the densest tram network in the Netherlands. Trams have priority unless signs say otherwise, and tram rails are a slip hazard for motorcycles. Always assume the tram will not stop.
  • Rails crossing at shallow angles — a recurring motor-specific scenario: crossing wet tram or train rails at a shallow angle risks losing the front. The CBR answer favours crossing rails as close to a right angle as possible.
  • Coastal crosswind near Scheveningen — open stretches toward the coast bring sudden side gusts. Hazard scenarios test maintaining position and easing off, not braking abruptly.
  • Tourists and beach traffic — disoriented pedestrians stepping off kerbs near the boulevard. Release the throttle as you pass groups looking the wrong way.
  • Government-district one-way systems — frequent restricted-access and bus-lane signs around the international and government quarter. Misreading one is a common test mistake.

Booking tips

  • Rijswijk slots fill 2–4 weeks ahead, especially around exam-season peaks.
  • Book the interpreter after the CBR slot is confirmed — they need your CBR candidate number.
  • English-interpreter exam = 45 minutes (vs 30 for Dutch).
  • Bring valid ID, or you forfeit both fees.

Riding schools around The Hague that teach in English

DutchTheory covers the theory side. For the practical exams (AVB + AVD) you need a motorcycle riding school. Several schools in the Den Haag and Rijswijk region offer motorcycle lessons in English — confirm English availability when you book, as not every instructor is fluent.
