Take it in English

Motor theory in NL is Dutch-only; English happens through a CBR-listed interpreter. Full process and the three CBR-listed agencies are in our interpreter booking guide. Total cost: ~€356.50.

Rotterdam-specific hazards the CBR tests

  • Tunnel entries (Maastunnel, Beneluxtunnel) — sudden light change, speed-limit drop, no overtaking inside. J23 "tunnel" sign and tunnel-specific speed signs.
  • Tram + metro intersections — Rotterdam's RET network creates unusual priority situations. Trams typically have priority.
  • Port-bound truck traffic — wide turning radii, long blind spots. The CBR tests positioning behind/beside trucks heavily.
  • Wide multi-lane intersections — Rotterdam roads are wider than Amsterdam. Lane discipline and voorsorteren (pre-selection) questions are common.
  • Wet cobblestones in city centre — J5 slippery road sign + reduced grip while leaning. Motorcycle-specific question pattern.
  • Erasmus Bridge cycle/motor approach — shared use, blind-spot issues with cyclists overtaking on the right.

Booking tips

  • Rotterdam slots are typically easier to find on short notice than Amsterdam.
  • If you live in the Hague–Rotterdam corridor, compare slot availability at both Rotterdam and Den Haag-Rijswijk centres.
  • Allow 45 minutes for the interpreter version of the exam. Don't book travel out of Schiphol on the same day.
